[PR] Three Arrests Made in a Homicide: 1800 b/o Maryland Avenue, NE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce three arrests have been made in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, in the 1800 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 4:07 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 26-year-old Devonte Speight, of Northwest, DC.
On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, 24-year-old Derrick Kearney, of Southeast, DC, 24-year-old Daquan Anglin, of Laurel, MD, and a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, DC, were arrested and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Felony Murder).
The Metropolitan Police Department would like to thank the United States Park Police and the Metro Transit Police Department for their assistance in this case.
This case remains under investigation.
