OPPORTUNITY ALERT | Community Journalism Program
HumanitiesDC's Community Journalism Program is a free 12-week training program designed to equip DC residents with the knowledge, skills, and mentorship to tell the stories that matter most to them and their communities. Running from September 2023 through November 2023, this program will include six training workshops that will cover basic journalism skills and best practices, including how to:
Find credible information and sources
Conduct interviews
Outline and write news stories
Edit articles
Pitch stories to local media
In between workshop sessions, participants will work alongside professional journalists to report on one or more stories, which will be published online. To participate in this program, you must be a D.C. resident over the age of 18 and be able to commit to the entire 12-week program.
