My Pick of the Week: April 25th - Open Artist Hours @ Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum

What makes Anacostia YOUR home? For the fifth installation in CulturalDC’s Mobile Art Gallery, artist Amanda Burnham transforms the 40-foot renovated shipping container into “Block Watch,” a site-specific installation generated by images of the Anacostia community. 

During Open Artist Hours, Burnham invites you to share your memories and directly influence the "Block Watch" exhibit. The stories you tell will be translated into Burnham's bold, three-dimensional paintings to create a vibrant tapestry of the Anacostia community. Once complete, the exhibition will be in CulturalDC’s Mobile Art Gallery at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum from April 25-May 26.
