Thursday, January 7 | 2:30 – 3pm

Join us for a performance by classical guitarist and composer, Carlos Pavan. Born in Argentina but now residing in New York, Mr. Pavan brings a mix of tradition and influences, as he combines Tango and Folkloric rhythms from his native country with jazz harmonies and classical techniques and forms.

A former student of legendary musicians/composers, Jorge Morel, Dave Smiley, and Pablo Ziegler, Mr. Pavan has traveled extensively, performing, and has recorded three albums featuring string quartet PUBLIQuartet. Staying true to his Argentinean roots, he currently is the artistic director and composer of the Park Slope Chamber Players, with a newly released album by Cantaur Records. His new project is “A daring harmonic language,” says Fanfare Magazine. Carlos Pavan has “Striking music and great originality” as stated by renowned Classical Guitar Magazine.

This program is in collaboration with the Smithsonian Latino Center (SLC). David Coronado, Public Affairs Specialist (SLC), joins us as our guest host.
