π Feb 16 | Creating Black Space | Real Estate and Placemaking in The Diamond District [SP]
A salon-style chat about the state of Black art spaces and the power of real estate innovation.
The real estate market is brimming with unrecognized opportunity. While many African Americans are using homeownership as an opportunity to create generational wealth Ian Callender, founder of Suite Nation, has mastered the art of placemaking in the face of ongoing gentrification in our city. As the mind behind projects like Culture House, Callender works to encourage native Washingtonians to create opportunities for Black elevation outside of simply buying and reselling homes.
Creating Black Space is one of 3 programs scheduled for ARCH Developmentβs (Anacostia Arts Center +The HIVE 2.0) #BlackOwned series taking place during Black History month this year.
