NAKIMULI BRINGS BOLD FASHION TO WASHINGTON, D.C.
America’s funky sweetheart turns up the sizzle this summer

(Washington, D.C.) - As the summer continues to swelter, fashion brand Nakimuli keeps the heat going for an end-of-summer trunk show at Nubian Hueman Boutique.  The event will be held on August 15th, 2015 from 2pm to 6pm at 1231 Good Hope Road SE, Washington, DC 20020 located inside the Anacostia Arts Center. The show displays the stunning Black Star / Jump Hi Collection at a 20%-50% discount for RSVP'd patrons, as well as, the opportunity to meet with the Brooklyn-bred designer and founder, Tennille McMillan.

Dubbed “America’s funky sweetheart”, the self-taught seamstress began her Nakimuli brand in 2009.  Inspired by vivid colors, shapes, and bold prints, McMillan’s designs are more than a statement; they are true works of art.  McMillan has adorned celebrities such as Eva Marcille of America’s Next Top Model, Grammy Awards winners Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, Danielle Brooks of Orange Is The New Black, and music artists Jazmine Sullivan and Merrill Garbus of TuneYards.  The uniquely themed Black Star / Hi Jump Collection features a plethora of audacious prints (think Aztecs, mudcloth, and florals) in bright, eye-catching colors.  All pieces, which includes swimsuits, crop tops, skirts, and lightweight jackets, range in size from small to 3x-large.

“We have had a challenge with finding designers that cater to the curves of various women.  Tennille has done an amazing job at finding beautiful, accentuating silhouettes and patterns to compliment a wide range of sizes.  In no way does she skimped on the fun and flirtiness of fashion”, explains Nubian Hueman Owner, Anika Hobbs.  “To say we’re excited about having this brand is an understatement.  Nakimuli is the epitome of our aesthetic mission for our clientele.  It’s ethnic influence and modern design at its finest.  We’ve followed Tennille’s brand for years and have been enamored by her growth.  This is truly an honor for us as fans and now as a host for her trunk show here in the District”.
