DC Free Summer Meals Program now available!
Hunger sucks. But with the DC Free Summer Meals Program, kids and teens, birth to 18, can eat healthy and good-tasting meals at community sites—such as schools, community centers, libraries, and DPR sites—now through the end of August. Most meal sites are open Monday through Friday though some are open Saturdays as Mayor Gray has just announced. Now through the end of the program, the Department of Parks and Recreation and DC Public Library have opened select sites to serve kids and teens on Saturdays.
More than 60 sites are open to the more than 40,000 children and youth who live and spend summer days in Wards 7 and 8. But wait… what about the young people who live east of the river but participate in a program in another part of the city? They can eat wherever they are since programs are open across the District.
The list of sites—including name, address, hours of meals and snacks—is on the One City Youth Featured Programs site.
