LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER for DC BOCCE
SUMMER SEASON
Washington, DC –
July 3, 2012 – DC Bocce League, the nation’s largest organized bocce league, is
entering its summer season, bringing with it broad appeal to the urban
professionals who live, work and play in the DC Metro Region. The league’s popularity with this audience is
evidence of the appeal of DC Bocce’s offerings: socializing, charity and good
old-fashioned backyard partying.
There is no better recreational sport for meeting people and
making new connections. DC Bocce boasts
nearly 10 weddings of couples who met at bocce and countless new
friendships. At the end of every season,
DC Bocce awards league champions donations to charity in their team’s
name. The organization has donated over
$85,000 to charitable organizations since 2004.
Best of all, DC Bocce is host to the largest social sports party in the
region. The Spring Season Charity
Tournament event hosted over 500 participants, 2 pig roasts, and more than 20
kegs of beer. White Ford Bronco
performed and Major League Bocce members attended the all day party at the
Yards Park for free.
“DC Bocce is so much more than just a game, it is a social
organization focused on connecting our members with each other and with their
community,” says the League’s President, Sarah DeLucas. This season promises to be DC Bocce’s best
yet with another End of Season Charity Tournament on tap for the summer. “Don’t miss out on your opportunity to make
new friends, benefit a cause that is important to you and party with
bocce-enthusiasts from around the region,” adds DeLucas.
Summer season is the last chance for DC residents and
workers to participate in our outdoor divisions and the End of Season Charity
Tournament until 2013. Registration will close Friday July 6th
at midnight. Games are played at
6:30 and 7:30 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings in three
Metro-accessible locations: Dupont, Columbia Heights and Capitol Hill. Teams play once a week for 6 weeks, followed
by a single elimination play-off tournament.
Registration is $65 for the season and includes premium beer specials, a
team t-shirt, and entry to the End of Season Charity Tournament.
Founded in Washington, DC in 2004, DC Bocce League was
established by a small group of friends hosting 60 participants. DC Bocce, and our sister company, Major
League Bocce, now play in six cities on the east coast with over 6,000 active
members playing both outdoor and indoor variations on the game. For more information about DC Bocce League,
