September at THEARC!

Fela! Master Class

THEARC Theater is proud to partner with The Shakespeare Theatre Company to host high school students who will take a master class with the cast members of Broadway’s hit-musical, Fela! at THEARC. 
The public will have an opportunity to see the students perform what they learned following the master class on Sep. 26 at 6 PM in THEARC Theater.  Find out more

Nina Abney at Corcoran

In conjunction with the 30 Americansexhibition, the Corcoran will host its first artist-in-residence program at THEARC. Nina Chanel Abney will work with ArtReach's teen students for a week-long residency, October 3-7.  The students and she will explore themes relevant to their lives and they will later create a mural for permanent display outside of the Corcoran’s ArtReach studio at THEARC.  Find out more about Fall 2011 ArtReach classes

Hip Hop Art by Local Youth

We’d like to recognize Raising Expectations, Inc. who hosted a special “Tribute to Hip-Hop” art exhibit this past month.  Local youth who participated in workshops with them learned about hip hop music and artwork before displaying their creations in the Corcoran galley at THEARC.  To greater success, the event was filmed to become a potential commercial spot for Pepco.
