Spring 2010 Free Animal Vaccination Clinics
The Animal Disease Prevention Division of the Department of Health is once again planning for another set of free vaccination clinics to the resident’s cats and dogs starting May 1 through June 5 at every Ward in the District of Columbia. Please see attached flyer.
The free vaccination clinic is an outreach program that allows the Department of Health to educate our community with information regarding responsible pet ownership (scooping dog poop, leash law, etc.), reporting animal bites, West Nile Virus, rabies prevention, etc. We will also promote our flyers on Emergency Preparedness, Rabies, Biting Dogs, and Love your Dog to increase compliance with vaccination and licensing laws (per DC Official Code 8-1804 (b). Pet owners will be encouraged to purchase dog licenses during the vaccination clinics, the cost of DC dog licenses $15.00 for altered (spayed or neutered) dogs, and $50.00 for dogs that are not altered. The vaccination clinics are greatly needed in our community.
