CALLING WARD 8 - WE SET THE TONE! VOTE CHARLES WILSON TOMORROW!
I am speaking to my Ward 8 friends and neighbors. Those of us who live in Ward 8 and genuinely love where we live and want to see our ward transform into the wonderful place that we know that it can be.
WARD 8 IS IN A CRISIS! WE NEED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION!
Let's replace the litter with flowers, replace the vacant buildings with businesses and shops, replace the violence in our streets with togetherness, replace the boredom with recreation and replace the suffering with HOPE!
Everything that we have ever needed to reach the next level of our community has always been HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY. We just need someone with the vision to see that and the focus, discipline and dedication to follow through.
For this reason I am asking you to please look into your hearts and take a stand for OUR home. Some of you may have grown up with Marion Barry - he may have even given you your first summer job but today is a new day and we can no longer fail our young people today because of past promises or favors. It is not right and it is not fair and we have seen what the past 4 years have gotten us - nothing.
Marion Barry was elected into office last year by a landslide. That landslide represented the hope that people had that Marion Barry would keep his promises and would make Ward 8...make YOU his priority. Unfortunately as we all now see that did NOT happen. The only time that we say Mr. Barry in the news was for some personal problem, some legal scrape, some dubious plot that serviced him - not the ward.
We CAN have a new day! I know there are those Ward 8 residents who are tired. Who have given up who feel that "you can't beat Marion Barry so you might as well join him". You can not think like that. We CAN and we WILL but only with YOU....YOUR VOTE!
If you can't get up tomorrow and go to the polls for yourself then please do it for your community.
WE NEED YOU!
If you don't vote you can't complain. By not voting you are endorsing that Ward 8 can never succeed. That we can never have a better and brighter day - that we don't deserve it.
This blog has long since endorsed Charles Wilson for Ward 8 City Council. We aren't the only ones as Charles Wilson has received endorsements from the Washington Post, the Washington City Paper, And Now Anocostia and The Barry Stops Here blogs. We find him to be all the things that the Ward is in desperate need of.
We need the community to come out and endorse our home. To be advocates for your community.
We need people to stop putting themselves first and put the Ward first! Say no to the "same ole same ole" and say "yes" to change!
PLEASE VOTE FOR A NEW WARD 8 TOMORROW!
