Calvary Women's Services seeks a full time Workforce Development Specialist for its job placement program, Step Up DC. We are looking for someone who loves workforce development and is eager and excited to work alongside program participants as they return to the job market and build their careers. Calvary is in a period of growth, so strong candidates will possess the skills and drive to help build upon and expand a successful program so that it reaches even more people and has even greater impact on women in our community.
The Workforce Development Specialist provides individual support to participants throughout the entire program including career assessments, helping with job searches, assisting with placements, completing exit interviews, and providing job retention support. They also facilitate employment training and work readiness activities, and partner with volunteers and other service providers to offer a diverse curriculum of career development opportunities. Working with the Workforce Development Manager, the position engages in networking and fostering strong relationships with area employers, local workforce and job coalition partners, and developing employment opportunities for program participants. Working as a part of a housing program team, the Workforce Development Specialist will coordinate with case managers to assess participant need and work to remove barriers that may prevent participant success. The position tracks program data and prepares reports that align with strategic goals and funding requirements.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three to five years of related workforce development experience. Candidates should also have a strong desire to apply and expand their industry skills during the program’s next phase of strategic growth.
