Job Summary:
This position is located in the Office of the Chief Nursing Executive, Saint Elizabeths Hospital (SEH), Department of Behavioral Health. The mission of SEH is to provide the highest quality, integrated mental health services to persons with mental disorders who require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization and to facilitate their continuing recovery and return to the community. SEH trains students, health and mental health clinicians, and professionals who work with mentally ill consumers to provide compassionate care using best practices.
The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Psychiatric Nurse and assists the Director of Nursing Performance Improvement with a variety of compliance and performance improvement duties to insure nursing compliance with quality standards and accreditation requirements. Works very closely with outside regulatory bodies such as CMS, DOH and TJC during surveys and ensures that findings from surveys and audits are used to inform any training and competency testing for the nursing staff.; plans and conducts a variety of nursing in-service trainings to meet quality standards and competency assessment requirements in conformance with accreditation standards and departmental objectives. The incumbent provides expertise regarding regulatory agency standards, compliance assessments, and implementation of quality improvement measures in preparation for surveys by accrediting bodies. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising the admissions function for the hospital.
