“Our HeART Space Program was created in 2020 to provide Project Create elementary-age students and their family members with a healing space to come together to acknowledge the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic. In groups of up to six families, through 2-hour weekly sessions guided by experienced art therapists, our HeART Space family groups leverage the creative process within a psychotherapeutic relationship. The groups focus on building coping mechanisms, increasing emotional wellness, decreasing anxiety, and building resilience by sharing stress management skills and helping families build social connections. Through creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, and sculpting, participants express themselves and move towards healing.

Thanks to grant funding, all HeART Space programs at the Project Create Arts Center are offered at no cost to participants.

Our HeART Space Program has been so well-received that we are planning to expand our groups beyond families to include middle and high school students, parents, and young adults. Stay tuned!”
