[PR] Temporary Closures of Suitland Parkway, SE from September 21 through October 3, 2020

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close Suitland Parkway, SE between South Capitol Street, SE/SW and Firth Sterling Avenue, SE on weeknights from Monday, September 21, 2020 through Friday September 25, 2020 and Monday, September 28, 2020 through Friday October 2, 2020, from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am the following morning.

For both weeks, this closure will also continue on Saturday, September 26, 2020 andSaturday, October 3, 2020, from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen delays, the Saturday closures will occur on the Sunday, September 27, 2020 and Sunday, October 4, 2020 as alternate days. A marked detour will be in place during these closures.

This closure is associated with the bridge reconstruction shown in the highlighted area in the below graphic.

These closures are necessary for construction activities associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project, which includes construction of the New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and the reconstruction of the I-295/ Suitland Parkway interchange.
