[PR] MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: September 2, 2019 to September 9, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, September 2, 2019, through Monday, September 9, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 48 firearms in the District of Columbia.

A Knight Muzzleloader .50 caliber rifle was recovered in the 3600 block of 12th Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-156-521
A Taurus .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-156-724
An ER2 BB gun was recovered in the 4300 block of Wheeler Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-156-630

A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Lanique Ashawn Davis, of Southeast, D.C., 26-year-old Daris Joshua, of Southeast, D.C., and 25-year-old Nakia Michelle Pearson, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Second Degree Cruelty to Children Grave Risk, Parole Violation, and Felon in Possession.
