Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault With Intent to Commit Robbery while Armed and Assault on a Police Officer while Armed offense that occurred on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, in the 4600 block of Livingston Road, Southeast. 

At approximately 11:10 pm, two suspects approached the victim, a uniformed Special Police Officer, at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The second suspect attempted to disarm the victim. The victim then disarmed the suspect and fired shots. One suspect was struck by gunfire. The second suspect then fled the scene. The injured suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A firearm was recovered on the scene. 

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, 28 year-old Roscoe Atchinson, of Southwest, DC, was arrested for Assault on a Police Officer while Armed, Assault With Intent to Commit Robbery while Armed, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Felon in Possession, Unregistered Firearm, Unregistered Ammunition, andPossession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.

This case remains under investigation. Agents from the Internal Affairs Division are investigating the discharge of a firearm by the Special Police Officer. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division continue to investigate the underlying robbery offense.
