[PR] Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1300 Block of Half Street, SW

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in connection to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, in the 1300 block of Half Street, Southwest.

At approximately 1:15 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 

The decedent has been identified as 15 year-old Thomas Johnson, of Southeast, DC. 

On Friday, January 3, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 18 year-old Javon Gunter, of Southwest, DC. Gunter was transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated)
