Resource Organizer Job Description (full time)

  • Responsible for organizing and outreach to community members including long term D.C. residents.

  • Co-Chair the Resource Committee.

  • Assist in developing and implementing the annual fundraising plan; and a five year fundraising plan.

  • Work with building and maintaining the Resource Committee and attend Resource Committee meetings.

  • Cultivate donors, sustaining donors, major donors, and members; and acknowledge the work of each.

  • Manage the resource phone banking.

  • Coordinate site visits with donors and foundation staff.

  • Implement a tracking and monitoring system of donor information, and train others to do so.

  • Research prospective donors, grantors and foundations; and develop an approach strategy.

  • Coordinate members with grant writing skills to prepare grant proposals and letters of inquiry (LOIs).

  • Prepare grant proposals and letter of inquiries (LOIs), as needed. Finalize and submit LOIs and proposals or oversee finalization and submission.

  • Monitor grant proposals, provide grant updates, and report submission deadlines.

  • Meet with prospective donors/grantors to share ONE DC’s financial needs and goals.

  • Teach and support staff and members to do grassroots fundraising.

  • Support member-initiated activities and groups related to ONE DC’s mission, vision and values.

  • Attend staff and Shared Leadership Team meetings and planning sessions, LEAP, Freedom Schools, and other in-house political education.

  • Work with other organizers to carry out the strategic vision of the organization.

  • Research topics and legislation related to housing or work-related and co-op issues.
