This position is located within the Infonnation Technology (IT) Division of Office of Unified Communications (OUC); Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice. The OUC Technology Division is responsible for managing all Public Safety Communications for the District of Columbia including 911 telephone, system network, Radio Communications, Voice Recording, and LAN/WAN systems.

The IT Division's responsibilities encompass facilitating the design, operations, maintenance, monitoring, and support of infrastructure, security, and overall systems in support of OUC. This includes network devices and systems, security software, operating systems, HVAC, UPS, and Radio Technology.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent serves as an IT S pecialist (Tier 2 Support). S pecifically, the incumbent is responsible for the routing/imaging mobile routers, vehicle electrcial wiring for routers, coordinating Firewall requirements with OCTO, executing major deployment plans for FEMS and MPD.  He/she will test sofrtware updates and security patches of tablets/toughbooks, connect and monitor MVPN-NetMotion, monitor alarms and escalate Network infastructure, review daily checks of the call floor workstations, tests software updates, troubleshoot software bugs and provide end user IT support on the operations call floor.

He/she will support department services including System and Radio Technology, Dispatch Operations, network system support and operations, subscriber radio and maintenance/support, and all other agency applications for the District of Columbia.   The incumbent will participate in the technical steering and development of global customer support function as defined intra-agency collaboration between key Technology and Training stakeholders under the management of OUC IT.  He/she will test plans and acceptance procedures for vendor applications, develop and refine SOPdocumentation supporting the daily operations of the interactive customer support functions. The work consists of various duties that involve applying a series of different and unrelated processes and methods. The incumbent decides what needs to be done based on analysis of the subjects and issuesrelated to the assignment; and selects appropriate course of action from many acceptable alternatives.
