WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 2 – McDonald’s restaurants across Washington, DC will host National Coffee With A Cop Day on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia. This national one-day event brings local police officers and citizens together – over coffee – to discuss community issues and build relationships in a safe environment. All attendees receive a free small cup of McCafe coffee, courtesy of their neighborhood McDonald’s.

The first Wednesday of October is deemed National Coffee With A Cop Day, when thousands of police, sheriff, campus, local and federal law enforcement agencies participate in community events across the country.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITY

Residents are invited to attend a Coffee With A Cop event on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at one of the following McDonald’s restaurants with local law enforcement agencies:

· 2529 Good Hope Road, SE
· 3901 Minnesota Avenue, NE
· 400 C Street, SW

“As the majority of McDonald’s restaurants are locally owned and operated, we look forward to hosting these events across the communities we serve, arm-in-arm beside our local police officers,” said Owner/Operators Carlos Mateos, Sr., with restaurants throughout the Washington, DC area. “We hope residents will attend to connect with their local police, engage in open dialogue in a safe and friendly environment, or simply get to know officers face-to-face.”

“Nothing is more valuable than our connection with local communities. Coffee with a Cop allows our officers to enjoy a cup of coffee with local citizens and engage in conversations ranging from personal safety to police community relationships,” said Peter Newsham, Chief of Police, Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia. “By opening these dialogues in a relaxed setting, we hope that we can further build on the existing trust and collaboration within our communities.”

About Coffee With A Cop
Coffee with a Cop is a national law enforcement program that brings police officers and the community members they serve together – over coffee – to discuss community issues, learn more about each other and build relationships in an informal, neutral environment. Coffee with a Cop sessions provide community residents the opportunity to sit down with officers, ask questions and share what’s on their mind. Citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for their community. McDonald’s is one of many locations for these events across the country.
