Ocean Leadership Policy Internship - $14/hour
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR YEAR-LONG INTERNSHIP STARTING FALL 2019
* DEADLINE IS 13 JULY*
The Consortium for Ocean Leadership (COL) offers Washington, D.C.-based internships for current or recently graduated students. Over the years, interns have come from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and institutions in the academic and government sectors and have made many valuable contributions to the mission and work of COL. Preference is given to students in good standing at a COL member institution; it is recommended that interested students seek out support for their application from their university’s COL representative via a sponsorship letter.
The policy internship is designed to further professional development for current or recently graduated students by working with COL’s Public Affairs staff. The intern learns about the federal legislative process and becomes more familiar with current science and ocean policy issues. He/she is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on relevant bills and legislative hearings; contributing to the policy section of the weekly newsletter; developing information for congressional members and committees; attending hearings and briefings on behalf of COL; maintaining sections of our website; and pursuing other items on COL’s policy agenda. The intern may also have the opportunity to work on projects with other departments and on a variety of educational initiatives.
