Police officers and residents often have different beliefs and expectations about policing that influence how they interact with one another. Together MPD, UDC, and The Lab @ DC are testing whether a novel training program that equips officers with detailed knowledge of the local community and historical context, including a tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, empowers them to engage more effectively with residents.
