My Sister’s Place, Inc. (MSP) is a community-based nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive and holistic direct services via intervention, prevention, educational programs, and services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

The Community Advocate provides intensive case management to clients in the Family Re-housing and Stabilization Program in scattered-site units in the District of Columbia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive case management services to women and children affected by domestic violence and other crimes at least twice a month in-person;

  • Create detailed service plan and financial budget with each client and review monthly;

  • Establish and enhance relationships with partners and stakeholders including landlords;

  • Identify strengths and needs of individuals and families as they relate to the overall plan of intervention;

  • Make appropriate referrals to address social, environmental, medical, and emotional problems;

  • Respond to crisis situations and intervene to resolve immediate problems;

  • Provide assistance in seeking housing, employment, financial assistance, and other needed services;

  • Coordinate workshops on financial intelligence, housing opportunities, and other applicable topics;
