Position Summary
Martha’s Table is seeking a thoughtful, innovative, and out-going Volunteer Engagement Manager who has proactive and strategic volunteer engagement experience. The ideal candidate will be a competent leader who can assess and meet our programs’ needs through recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers.
The Volunteer Engagement Manager will direct volunteer scheduling, training, outreach, recruitment, and retention while stewarding volunteers through the volunteer life cycle. This position requires a wide set of skills including, but not limited to, a high-level understanding of the organization, an ability to pay close attention to details, effective communications skills to individuals and groups, and multitasking. The Volunteer Manager must also have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and be joyfully willing to step in to do whatever needs to be done at any given time.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities
Manage and serve as the point of contact for all on-site volunteers.
Manage day-to-day volunteer operations, including scheduling volunteers, responding to email and telephone inquiries, and troubleshooting volunteer problems.
Present and manage orientations and training for new volunteers.
Actively organize, coordinate, and manage the recruitment of volunteers, including developing partnerships with social, civic, and local institutions and organizations.
Manage existing partnerships with recurring volunteer groups.
Facilitate outreach efforts such as presentations to schools, corporate and/or community groups, and information booths at community events.
Collect and maintain data for accurate assessment of volunteer program.
Liaise and meet with the various program leaders within Martha’s Table to assess their volunteering needs.
Communicate volunteer scheduling with program staff.
Create and assure meaningful experiences for all volunteers.
Create and manage volunteer newsletters and communication.
Assist in the planning and implementation of a volunteer recognition program.
Serve as a backup driver for McKenna’s Wagon, as needed.
