March 18 | Growing Healthy Houseplants with the U.S. Botanic Garden

Join USBG Plant Health Care Specialist Chelsea McKinley live from the U.S. Botanic Garden’s Conservatory for helpful hints on maintaining healthy houseplants. Using images and plants from the Garden’s collections, Chelsea will share tips for diagnosing and addressing common houseplant health concerns. Participants will leave the session better equipped to cultivate a thriving indoor plant collection at home.
Chelsea McKinley is the Plant Health Care Specialist at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. Chelsea has worked at the Garden since 2014, previously working as a gardener in the Horticulture Collections team, caring for the Medicinal and Mediterranean plant collections. Before joining the Garden, Chelsea worked as the assistant grower at Greenstreet Gardens, the operations manager at the University of California Santa Cruz Greenhouses, and a research associate for Syngenta Flowers Lawn and Garden R&D in Gilroy, California. At Syngenta, she conducted trials testing the efficacy of plant health products. Chelsea has a bachelor’s of science in Environmental Horticulture Science from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.
