MPD 6D | Man Dead, After a Shooting in Southeast DC

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that left one man dead.

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at approximately 6:09 p.m., members of the Sixth District responded to the report of an unconscious person inside of a residence, in the 1600 block of 22nd Street, Southeast. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious and unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and, after all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Amar Harris, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
