A Free Fishing Event with Angling Instruction for Youth
Learn how to fish and discover the value of aquatic resources at the 2019 Family & Youth Casting Call on Saturday, June 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. taking place along the banks of the Anacostia River in Anacostia Park, just outside of the Aquatic Resources Education Center!
The Family & Youth Casting Call is an annual free event sponsored by the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) Fisheries & Wildlife Division. DOEE provides fishing instruction, environmental education activities, and community resources to youth and their families. Families can bring their own fishing equipment or youth may use the spin casting equipment provided by DOEE. DOEE also supplies bait and organizes volunteer fishing instructors to help youth participants learn the basics of catch-and-release fishing in a fun, supportive setting.
Sign up to reserve a single one hour fishing slot, equipment, and instruction for youth participant and please note the following:
Acquire a ticket for each family member planning to attend so that we may maintain an accurate headcount.
Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult chaperone to assist with supervision and practicing of angling skills. This includes all minors, 17 and below.
Submit only 1 registration per family/email address, but encourage other interested families to register!
