🏆 July 30 | Kojo in Your Community: Entrepreneurship East of the River - Free event!

Yaaaaassss! The Advoc8te was privy to this being in the works a few weeks ago and gave some background to the Kojo Show on entrepreneurship east of the river. I really encourage Ward 8 residents to come out and engage in this discussion. As a Ward 8 small business owner there are many highs (celebrating 11 years and counting) and lows (my disappointment in the Entertainment and Sports Arena shenanigans). The key is to keep the faith, keep hustling and know your value! If you got your tickets, I’ll see you there!

What does it take to open a business in a neighborhood that some residents feel has traditionally lacked shops, restaurants and entertainment?

As development ramps up East of the River -- a new sports and entertainment arena in Congress Heights, Busboys and Poets in Anacostia, along with smaller local businesses -- are longtime business owners, new entrepreneurs, and job seekers able to take advantage of the new growth? What are the businesses that are setting up shop -- and will they serve the community surrounding them?

Join Kojo Nnamdi to talk about the landscape of local businesses, jobs and entrepreneurship in Ward 8.
