JOB ALERT | Safe Shores seeks Teen Advocate - $50k to $60k
The teen advocate is responsible for providing advocacy, crisis intervention and short-term ongoing advocacy services as needed to youth (ages 13-17) victims, their non-offending family members as desired. Teen advocates may be the first point of contact for victims of sexual assault. The focus of teen advocacy support is to help reduce trauma for youth while informing them of their rights and options. The teen advocate helps youth identify and access services the youth may need, acting as a liaison with other agencies and service providers and supporting them throughout the investigative process as needed. This position requires regular participation in an on-call rotation for 24-hour response. In accordance with the Sexual Assault Victims’ Rights Amendment Act of 2019, this position will respond to youth in community settings such as hospitals or law enforcement agencies, as well as working from an office setting. This position will be required to respond in-person and virtually, dependent upon client needs and preferences. This position is a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect under District of Columbia Statute §4-1321.02 when not acting within the defined role that provides an exemption to this mandate.
