JOB ALERT | Events Coordinator - $20+/hour
Friends of the National Aboretum's venue rental program is responsible for renting the grounds of the National Arboretum for weddings and corporate events. FONA’s Events Coordinator will help with the implementation of this program and other FONA events.
As the Point of Contact (POC) for the venue rental program, the Events Coordinator will be required to be on the grounds for a rental event from the start of vendor setup until after the last vendor has left. They may be asked to help our sales manager to perform various tasks needed to support the event. After every event, they will need to walk the site to make sure it’s clear of all equipment and trash. They may be asked to serve as the POC for tent installations and removals.
The job requires a combination of weekday and weekend work. Work will only occur when we have an event booked. Work typically follow this schedule:
Fridays the work will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm or 11:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday the work will be in 13-hr shifts starting at noon or shorter shifts that start later in the day.
Monday-Thursday the work will be in 5-hr shifts that fall between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. These shifts are more negotiable than the others.
The Events Coordinator may also be asked to help FONA implement its plans for other events like donor events, a bulb sale, and a holiday tree sale.
This position will be between 0 and 30 hours per week. During the busiest months, September and October, there are 2 or 3 events every weekend. From November 1st through March 30th there will be almost no work.
Reliability is a must!
