On an annual basis CAFB distributes about 40 million meals worth of food through a network of hundreds of partners across the OMV. Curbside Groceries is striving to reach the goal of bringing affordable, healthy food to areas of Ward 8 and PG county that are experiencing transportation barriers and gaps in accessibility, in a model where product sales cover the costs of personnel, operating expenses and food. To achieve this goal, it is essential that the drivers are full, active members of the curbside team.
Curbside Groceries is a mobile grocery truck bringing groceries for sale to areas experiencing transportation barriers and gaps in accessibility of affordable, healthy food. Operating in neighborhoods across Ward 8, Curbside Groceries sells a full selection of foods-including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, and proteins-to provide residents in low food access areas with grocery options and a selection of essential personal care items year-round. Curbside Groceries is an initiative of the Capital Area Food Bank, presented through a partnership with Giant Food, J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, and the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation. The DC Curbside Groceries Coordinator will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the truck, support the recruitment of new sites, and manage customer engagement. This candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the grocery truck project. Successful candidates have the proven ability to independently move a project forward with professional maturity. The manager will work closely with the Grocery Truck Manager at each market stop to service the community with affordable, healthy market basket of foods. The position requires working closely with other departments, especially food resources and development department.
