JOB ALERT | Communications Associate - $60k to $70k

The Aspen Institute is a global nonprofit organization committed to realizing a free, just, and equitable society. Since its founding in 1949, the Institute has been driving change through dialogue, leadership, and action to help solve the most critical challenges facing communities in the United States and around the world. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute has a campus in Aspen, Colorado, and an international network of partners.

As a member of EOP's communications team, the communications associate supports outreach around EOP's work. This includes drafting content for our website, emails, and social media; writing and copyediting materials such as blog posts, publications, and op-eds; identifying and pursuing opportunities for media engagement; tracking and reporting on EOP's performance data; and helping to plan and run events. The communications associate reports to the senior communications manager and works closely with the digital communications associate, and may be required to support their work as the need arises. Additional duties could include disseminating content through our website, emails, and social media; ensuring we have accurate, up-to-date information on our network of contacts; and designing publications, images, and multimedia. The communications associate's most impactful contribution to EOP's work will be maintaining a robust system of data collection and reporting — so this position requires strong organizational skills and task management.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to understand and write about a range of policy topics — including issues relating to employment, small business development, economic development, education, racial and gender equity, access to economic opportunity and others— and produce compelling deliverables that strategically expand the reach of EOP's work. This position is ideal for someone with strong communications skills, intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn, a passion for policies and strategies to expand economic opportunity and alleviate poverty, and demonstrated achievements in a communications-related role. Successful candidates must take initiative, manage sensitive and important relationships, meet project deadlines, and multi-task to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
