Jasmine Cunningham, 28, Arrested in Felony Threats Offense

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest has been made in a felony threats offense that occurred in Northwest.
On Monday, September 30, 2024, at approximately 3:00pm, officers were flagged down in the 3100 block of 14th Street, Northwest for a destruction of property offense. While on the scene, officers observed an individual in a verbal altercation with an employee at the establishment. The suspect threatened to assault the employee and used homophobic slurs.
Officers quickly apprehended 28-year-old Jasmine Cunningham of Northwest. She was arrested and charged with Threat to Kidnap Or Injure A Person and Theft in the Second Degree.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this offense as potentially being motivated by hate or bias. The designation can be changed at any point as an investigation proceeds and more information is gathered. A designation as a hate crime by MPD does not mean that prosecutors will prosecute it as a hate crime. The Special Liaison Branch is assisting with this investigation.
