Hope House DC seeks Summer Camp Art Teacher - $1,000 to $1,200
Hope House (hopehousedc.org) works with incarcerated fathers and their children. Each year we operate three summer camps behind bars for dads in prison and their kids. We use art as a way to facilitate conversation between fathers and children. One camp is inside a prison in Winton, NC and lasts four days. The other two are in prisons in Cumberland, MD and last six days. We spend five hours each day behind bars working on projects. We spend the nights at other sites where the children work on individual projects.
We are looking for art teachers to lead, inspire, and assist families in creating the art of their lives. This person should have experience working with children as well as adults. We provide transportation to the camps. The staff stays in staff quarters at the evening campgrounds, so food and housing are provided at camp. Pay depends on the experience and skill of the applicant.
Camp dates are June 21-24 in North Carolina, and July 12-17 in Cumberland.
