Higher Achievement, a nationally acclaimed nonprofit organization working to close the achievement gap for motivated, yet underserved students from low-income communities, seeks candidates for the position of Volunteer and Scholar Coordinator in Baltimore, DC, and Richmond.
Position Summary: The Volunteer and Scholar Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, supervision, training and support of volunteer teaching mentors, ensuring that they are able to implement the curriculum and actively engage scholars in learning.
The Volunteer and Scholar Coordinator also works closely with the Center Director and other staff to manage the relationships and operations necessary to run an excellent Achievement Center providing year-round academic programming for up to 100 middle school students.

We are in the process of adjusting our programs and staffing to accelerate our scholars’ outcomes in middle school, helping them advance to college-preparatory high school programs, graduate from high school, and go on to post-secondary success. Over the next several months, we are adding services that will allow our team members to spend more time with scholars and families, implement a new mentoring curricula, and integrate social, emotional, and academic learning. These changes include 15 new positions to join our team, some of which will be filled by internal candidates. This unprecedented hiring effort offers a chance to be a part of shaping our organization as we build our future.
