Help those in need by making a donation to Gifts For The Homeless
By now everyone has probably heard of the death of Mrs. Angela Hill, the woman who lived under the Sousa Bridge in Ward 7. Mrs. Hill passed away Wednesday morning and her death is being felt by members of the community who had come to know and care for her. You can follow my Twitter feed for details. Members of the community and Mrs. Hill’s family are planning a vigil this Saturday, February 20th in the afternoon at the underpass. I will share the details once they are in hand. I’m sharing some information on programs for the homeless that you may be interested in supporting.
Making the Winter a Little Warmer
For more than 30 years, Gifts for the Homeless (GFTH) has been helping homeless men, women and children in our area stay warmer during the cold winter months. We provide essential new winter clothing items and blankets, as well as good used clothing and accessories, to shelters, soup kitchens, transitional housing facilities and other homeless support organizations.
100% of every penny we receive from the public each year is used to purchase and deliver new warm coats, hats, thermal gloves and socks, blankets and more – with a retail value of more than $2.75 million — to homeless support organizations throughout the DC/MD/VA metro area.
