Greater DC Diaper Bank seeks Deputy Director - $120k to $140k/year
Start Date: April 15, 2025
Application Deadline: March 31, 2025
The Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB) supports economically vulnerable families in the greater Washington, DC area by collaborating with partners to distribute essential baby and hygiene products and expand access to critical services.
Founded in 2010, GDCDB meets an ongoing need for families, as diapers and other common necessities remain uncovered by social safety net programs like SNAP or WIC. Guided by core principles of dignity, care, learning, and service, GDCDB collects and distributes the supplies and products that families need to be safe, happy, and healthy through four programs:
The Diaper Bank, which provides diaper products of all sizes by leveraging an extensive network to secure diapers through in-kind donations from families and corporations, as well as discounted wholesale purchases;
The Baby Pantry, which secures, stocks, and supplies formula, wipes, baby food, hygiene, and nursing essentials;
The Nursery Project, which promotes safe sleep, play, and travel with cribs, car seats, and new baby gear; and
The Monthly, which distributes often overlooked period products and hygiene supplies not covered by public assistance.
The Deputy Director is a newly created leadership role at GDCDB. Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for overseeing GDCDB’s day-to-day operations. This includes leading the Human Resources, Information Technology, and Operations functions of the organization. Additionally, they will work collaboratively with the Finance team to ensure sound financial management and planning. The Deputy Director will manage a growing team of five, with three direct reports.
GDCDB’s product distribution grew 500% between 2020 and 2024; during this time, its budget doubled in size. This role is a great opportunity for a systems-oriented leader who excels at building and right-sizing tools and approaches in a rapidly evolving organization. The Deputy Director’s early focus will be on developing and implementing a strategy to optimize GDCDB’s technology infrastructure for its warehouse, development, volunteer and partner needs. Additionally, they will fortify GDCDB’s staff development by continuing the implementation of clear policies, procedures, and standards of excellence required by GDCDB’s size and complexity.
In early 2026, the organization plans to undergo a strategic planning process. The Deputy Director will play a pivotal role in both its planning and implementation.
