FUNDRAISER ALERT | Ward 8 Resident seeks financial help for sick dog, Dusty
This Ward 8 dog owner is asking for financial support for his sick dog, Dusty. Some of you may be familiar with Tom; he’s previously filmed ANC 8A meetings and posted them online.

“So Dusty, my best friend, my boy, child, biggest supporter, my rock, my everything, is sick. So on Tuesday, I had to take him to the doggie ER; he has loose stools and a decent amount of blood every time he pushes. He’s 12 however has been in good health. He thinks he is still a puppy and has the energy of a puppy. Recently he has been panting so heavy all the time. He’s sleeping and snoring, but he’s up and panting heavy the next minute. So Tuesday, I took him to the vet.
I’ll be frank, with covid affecting my business as a photographer/videographer, times have, like many others, be very tough. I like many others who have fur babbies, can relate when I say he is my everything; he has always been there for me no matter what. For the last few days, he’s been looking to me to return the favor looking at me, telling me he needs me this time. It breaks my heart.
The ER visit was just about $500, and that was just for them to tell me he needs bloodwork and a specific kind of bloodwork to evaluate whether he has endocrine disease or Cushing’s disease. Cushing’s syndrome is a disorder caused by the body’s exposure to an excess of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol affects all tissues and organs in the body. These effects together are known as Cushing’s syndrome. I don’t know much about them; however it is treatable. However the bloodwork alone is estimated to cost $1500 - I enclosed the summary from the ER visit and one of the three estimates on how much his bloodwork will cost.
I could really use any help possible, I don’t care how small. I will consider selling my car if I have to; however, I need it to get around to my gigs with all my stuff. If you or someone you know are in a position to help I’d be most grateful. On Thursday, he goes in to have the bloodwork done we have to act on this stuff going on with him. I understand anyone unable to assist; however, your prayers for him would be just as appreciated.
