For people ignoring the stay-at-home order

Good news, I’m not going to remind you about the limited number of COVID-19 tests, or that hospitals are expecting to be overrun with the sick. I’m not going to remind you that the country is experiencing a shortage of just about everything needed to fight this awful disease including masks, gloves, and ventilators. I’m not going to remind you that so many people are dying that they are putting them in freezer trucks, because the morgues are full. I’m not going to remind you because you have already decided to take the chance that none of that is going to happen to you. Okay, I can dig that. But I am going to ask you to indulge me a little bit and read the message written below. Maybe it will change your behavior, maybe not but I think it’s worth a shot.

Think about the person that you love the most.

Now imagine them in a hospital bed, gasping for each labored breath.

Imagine their pain, their fear, and the isolation that comes from being away from loved ones.

Imagine not being able to tell them that you love them right when they need to hear it the most.

What would you sacrifice for their good health? For their life?

A basketball game?

A slurpee?

Instagram likes?

So unless it’s essential, love them enough to stay home.

If everyone thought like this, we would be able to beat this thing and a lot sooner.
I may not even know you, yet I am staying home for you.
Can you pay it forward?
