Downtown Business Improvement District seeks Planning Associate

The DowntownDC BID was founded in 1997 and is a private non-profit organization that provides capital improvements, resources, and research to keep DowntownDC economically and environmentally strong and accessible. The BID is a catalyst, facilitator, and thought leader in diversifying the economy, promoting public/private partnerships and enhancing the DowntownDC experience for all. This special district encompasses a 138-block area from Massachusetts Avenue NW to Constitution Avenue NW, and from Louisiana Avenue NW to 16th Street NW.

Position Summary:

The Planning Associate will have a central role in helping to shape public space and public life in the heart of Washington, DC. This position will report to and support the Director of Planning in implementing parks, transportation, public art, and public space projects within the boundaries of the DowntownDC BID. In particular, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on two transformational projects; Franklin Park and the K Street Transitway. They will conduct research, analyze data, create visuals, write memos and reports, manage vendors, conduct community outreach and coordinate with public and private stakeholders in support of departmental projects. As future opportunities arise, the successful candidate will also directly manage a few public space projects.
