Job Summary 
This position is located in the Department of Employment Services (DOES), Office of Youth Programs, located at 4058 Minnesota Ave NE Washington, DC. The DOES Office of Youth Programs is responsible for providing workforce development programs and services to District youth between the ages of 14-24. The mission of the DOES Office of Youth Programs is to prepare District youth for the workforce and to connect them to opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts initial registration, certification, interviews and pre-screenings ensuring that each applicant or provider account/file folder contains pertinent and accurate documentation, background experience and training information, and summarizes personal characteristic or traits which may have a bearing on admittance to a local and/or federal program. Verifies and documents entrance criteria such as age, education, mental history, probationary status, selective service registration, family income, etc. Provides in depth occupational choice/change or career development counseling to program applicants. Identifies, establishes, and maintains coordination channels to improve the private sector recruitment efforts and promotes a close cooperative linkage between the Office of Youth Programs and all other applicant-serving components of DOES.

Participates in developing promotional public relation material designed to promote effective recruitment efforts. Arrange and conducts information sessions, focus groups and orientation of recruits.  Plans and conducts meetings, conferences, and workshop relating to the overall Office of Youth Programs effort. Makes presentations to social service agencies, schools, churches, military recruiters, private sector and local government agencies to elicit maximum participation in OYP Programming.
