DOES seeks Supervisory Workforce Development Specialist (Youth Programs) - $107k to $150k
This position is located in the Department of Employment Services (DOES), Office of Youth Programs. The Office of Youth Programs is responsible for providing workforce development programs and services to District youth between the ages of 14-24. The mission of the Office of Youth Programs is to prepare District youth for the workforce and to connect them to opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works under the administrative supervision of the Associate Director of the Office of Youth Programs, who gives assignments in broad general terms of work to be accomplished, and provides general target dates, goals, objectives and anticipated barriers, while allowing considerable latitude for the exercise of initiative, independent judgment and creativity in carrying out management responsibilities. Supervisor is consulted when highly controversial issues or problems of an unprecedented nature arise. Supervises work activities of professional and clerical staff. Provides supervision and guidance in the organization of work and execution of duties. Provides day-to-day guidance on matters relating to program priorities, productivity levels, required documentation and participant tracking. Assigns and reviews work products; keeps employees informed of management goals and objectives.
Assures that program staff and external stakeholders are kept abreast of federal and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures impacting program operations. Develops and implements directives and instructions to ensure that programs are operated in compliance with applicable federal/local legislation. Conducts analyses to develop new initiatives and improve existing ones. Assists in the formulation of grant proposals and procurement documents. Monitors and evaluates progress of service providers to ensure compliance with contract and program terms. Provides technical assistance when problems areas are identified. Maintains budget, participant and performance data; prepares monthly and quarterly reports, as required. Works in collaboration with staff from the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the Office of Contracts and Procurement to effectively execute the financial, technical and contractual components of the program.
