Deputy Mayor for Education seeks Staff Assistant - $61k to $79k
This position is located in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) within the Workforce Investment Council (WIC). The mission of the WIC is the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an integrated and effective workforce investment system for the District of Columbia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The Staff Assistant provides front-facing support to WIC the by performing a variety of both complex and routine administrative and analytical duties that are critical to the overall functioning of the agency. The incumbent prioritizes deliverables, tracks impending deadlines, and handles multiple tasks simultaneously. The duties range from basic office tasks such as managing multi-line telephones, official correspondence, staff calendars, and sector strategy work which may include organizing convenings, logistics, and materials for business and training partnership meetings.
Qualifications and Education
Candidate must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-09 grade level in the District of Columbia government service or its non-District equivalent, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position, such as:
High ethical standards and professional demeanor. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and exhibit excellent customer service.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, in both group and individual settings, including e-mail and phone. Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with persons at various levels and in various job categories.
Strong attention to detail, and work wells with others in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Experience with the use of a range of computer-related tools, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and online social media platforms.
