The position is in the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH). The mission of the DCCAH is to provide grants, programs and educational activities that encourages diverse artistic expressions and learning opportunities, so that all District of Columbia residents and visitors can experience the rich culture of our city.

Incumbent serves as a Special Assistant with the responsibility for planning, developing and coordinating special projects and programs, ensuring that projects are carried out in a timely manner, and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Incumbent also independently, plans and coordinates work assignments, and inform the Executive Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff of potential controversial findings, issues or problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Advises the Chief of Staff on issues and matters related to communications, policy and legislative review, policy development and implementation; and the interpretation and application of pertinent regulations. Builds partnerships within the District Government, federal and community organizations to advance DCCAH's agenda. Provides expertise to support executive decision-making processes by discerning and describing the interrelation of facts and issues regarding DCCAH operations. Identifies best practices and other objective criteria to evaluate the issues. Develops sources of information; identifies policy matters; coordinates and/or preforms in-depth analyses of critical issues; analyzes the consequences of adopting various proposals and policies; and forecasts developments potentially affecting programs and/administrative activities. Develops options and alternatives, coordinates findings and recommendations with other interested/affected parties, and as necessary, prepares and deliver written and oral presentations.

Conducts a variety of statistical studies with regard to assigned research projects. Discusses pertinent issues with key government officials, representatives of outside interests, various groups and individuals, as required, to obtain desired information. Correlates and analyzes facts to draw conclusions; and to provide meaningful recommendations to agency management. Conducts research and fact-finding investigations, and analyzes, interprets and documents projects. Establishes priorities and follows through on major projects to ensure that deadlines are met. Identifies problems and specific issues in a particular area, advises key personnel, and recommends solutions or alterative.
