DC Rape Crisis Center seeks Sexual Assault Advocate
The DC Rape Crisis Center-DCRCC is the oldest, and the first rape crisis center in the country that is dedicated to creating a world free from violence. Beyond providing therapeutic support to survivors of sexual assault, the DC Rape Crisis Center consciously works towards building a consent based culture. At the heart of the DC Rape Crisis Center’s value is a deep understanding of intersectionality, equity and anti- oppression. The DC Rape Crisis Center believes that all forms of oppression are connected, and that sexual violence, and racial injustice are intrinsically linked. The DC Rape Crisis Center is looking to expand its team to include Sexual Assault Advocates.
REPORTING/AUTHORITY: The Sexual Assault Advocate is supervised by the Advocacy Coordinator.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The DC Rape Crisis Center seeks multiple Sexual Assault Advocates to participate in its 24/7 on call rotation advocacy program, to include hospital response, and community based response for survivors of sexual assault. This program is in accordance with the Sexual Assault Victims’ Rights Amendment Act of 2019, and the DC Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program. The Sexual Assault Advocates will directly be responsible for providing in person hospital based crisis/advocacy support, and or in person/ virtual community base crisis/advocacy support to survivors of sexual assault to include but not limited to information for survivor of sexual assault regarding their rights, as well as making referrals and connecting survivors of sexual assault to the Advocacy Services Coordinator within the DC Rape Crisis Center ,who will provide short term ongoing advocacy support as needed. Additionally, the Sexual Assault Advocates must be a critical and analytical thinker, work well with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, communicate and write effectively, highly organized, flexible, ability to trouble shoot, and must be resourceful. The Sexual Assault Advocates will execute job duties, and responsibilities from an intersectional, and anti-oppression framework while upholding the values, and the mission of The DC Rape Crisis Center.
