DC Public Library seeks Teen Services Coordinator - $73k - $94k
Program Development & Implementation
Comprehensive knowledge of teen development and the ability to incorporate this knowledge into library program content for teens and their families.
In collaboration with the Youth and Family Services team, develop new services and programs in response to identified community needs. This includes conceptualizing new services, prototyping them, and bringing them to scale.
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of major system-wide programs. Current examples include: Teen Summer Reading, Teen Council, SYEP and Teen Tech kits.
Serves as a liaison between the teen steering committee and other library departments to ensure effective and consistent promotion of teen programs. Oversee system-wide contracts for teen programming and monitor allocated budgets for teen programming.
Keep current on trends and issues in teen library services and young adult literature, youth development and related trends.
Manage program logistics and arrangements, venue management organizations and oversee vendor and contract relations to provide effective delivery of teen programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of literature for teens and young adults and corresponding literature and studies on teen development.
Coordinate the Teen Council. With the support of the teen steering committee, oversee recruitment, onboarding process, creating growth opportunities for Council members and consulting with them regularly on major teen program and service initiatives
Partnership Development & Coordination
Represent DCPL in educational, professional, community groups and with the media to promote, describe, and clarify engagement initiatives, library services for teens and teen employment programs.
Develop and maintains affiliations with local and national groups related to serving teens.
Contribute to local and national library organizations through active participation in committees, writing for publications, participating in webinars, symposiums and YALSA etc. Develop and maintain an active network with agencies and organizations with aligned missions and interests.
Develop partnerships and vet partner proposals to enhance service offerings within DC Public Library locations.
Serve as the coordinating point between partners and branch locations, including scheduling sessions, reserving rooms, and completing calendar entries.
