DC Dept of General Services seeks Special Assistant - $87k to $113k
This position of located in the District of Columbia Department of General Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer. The Department of General Services (DGS) manages the capital improvement and construction program for District government facilities; real property for District government use; management of space in buildings operated or leased by District government for selling and leasing other District real property; and for providing building services for facilities owned or operated by the District. This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Administrative Officer in the delivery, assessment and resolution of major managerial and operational issues which require action.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent serves as a Special Assistant to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), with responsibility for planning, developing, initiating, coordinating and conducting a variety of special studies and projects. He/she assist in the day-to-day assessment of management and administrative and financial issues and problems that arise within the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer. Participates in special conferences and meetings.
This position develops targeted organizational and financial strategies, working with other team members to accomplish goals. Analyzes complex initiatives and provides working solutions. Develops analytical and special reports for the Office of the Director. Utilizes database management, project management and other management processes to keep track of case activities and status. Completes complex research, budget analyses, and evaluation of information to develop reports, respond to high level inquiries or to assist in developing policies, procedures, guides and/or legislative, managerial or administrative recommendations and/or proposals. Conducts studies on various managerial and operational needs and recommends a plan of action. Ensures that all concerns are addressed in a concise, knowledgeable, timely and professional manner.
Qualifications and Education
Candidate must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, including but not limited to: planning, implementation and evaluation of budgets, ability to present information, program objectives and activities to internal and external groups, and performing executive level project and programmatic support including working in a confidential environment.
6-8 years’ experience performing executive level administrative support work including working in a confidential environment is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
