IN CUSTODY | Steven Robinson arrested and charged in the murder of Shanika Williams

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2020, in the 800 block of 19th Street, Northeast.
At approximately 4:02 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim, inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 28-year-old Shanika Williams, of Northeast, DC.
On Friday, February 5, 2021, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) arrested and transported 29-year-old Steven Robinson, of Southeast, DC, to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. The detectives’ investigation revealed that this offense was domestic in nature.
