The Residential Assistant is a member of the operations staff team that ensures a safe, respectful environment for women living in Calvary’s housing programs. The Residential Assistant is responsible for offering support and assistance to residents, maintaining a respectful atmosphere in the housing programs and enforcing program rules and procedures.

This Residential Assistant opening is a part-time position with fixed hours on 3 nights - Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. There is also potential to pick up additional afternoon/evening/overnight/weekend shifts to cover for other regularly scheduled Residential Assistants who request time off.

Specific Responsibilities:

Program Supervision

- Assist in the management of the facility operations and housing program during scheduled shifts

- Follow security measures to ensure accurate resident check in/check out, so staff is aware of who is in the building

- Document all residential activities in a timely and thorough manner and ensure that client confidentiality is protected

- Make daily updates to logbooks and program documents, including attendance sheets, staff logbook and volunteer logbook

- Provide support during emergencies including contacting appropriate staff, law enforcement or fire and medical personnel, as necessary and in a timely manner

- Enforce house rules and procedures including reporting violations and writing disciplinary notices and incident reports as needed

- Offer assistance and support to residents

- Conduct walkthroughs of program space throughout shift

- Serve pre-made meal in the absence of the Chef or meal volunteers

- In the absence of a full-time staff member, follow medications protocol to ensure residents can access their medication in a timely manner

- Manage crises as needed

Volunteer Program

- Ensure that volunteers feel welcome and have the resources and support they need to complete their volunteer tasks

- Communicate clearly with volunteers, particularly the meal and overnight volunteers, to ensure a successful experience on-site

- Orient and train new volunteers in program procedures as needed
